Pioneer Day

It is July 24th.... at home people are celebrating Pioneer Day... there will be fireworks and BBQs.
We had an uneventful but full day.
We got up and walked around the area near our hotel. We found several grocery stores and even found the outdoor fresh fish and meat market....smelly..... there were lost of people out getting their morning shopping done.
we had breakfast at a little shop....i picked a meal based on a a breakfast menu in Chinese (i chose option B).... i had ramen with satay beef, with a side of scrambled eggs with hotdog pieces mixed in and toast with butter and water to drink. the ramen was good... the flavor was amazing! I picked out the meat and Chris ate it. He also got the eggs with hotdogs... the toast was good.
We met up with my friend Donna and her 2 girls and took a ferry across the harbor to the peninsula.

our hotel is just behind the little rounded bldg

Hong Kong has sooo many bldgs... when my friend was on her mission the little short bldg was the tallest in Hong Kong...
it started to rain while we were on the ferry and rained for about an hour... pretty hard. the rain was warm and really nice. I could have danced in the rain and loved every minute....but didn't. Although i did walk VERY slow in the rain while everyone else ran for cover....
We then went on a walking tour of the city with a mission companion of my friend Donna....(they served here in Hong Kong in 1975-1976)

we stopped at a cupcake place and had a little afternoon treat!
this one is white cake with sesame fronting

this one was chocolate with chocolate and hazelnut frosting

Chris loved both....but especially the sesame

Then this evening the conference started. They had a drum and dancing dragon to open the welcome reception... it was fun
