latest indulgence

I have found a new indulgence -- for my British drama vice!
It is "Call the Midwife".
It showed on PBS in September and November - but of course we don't have TV- so I am currently watching it on the computer at PBS.org
http://www.pbs.org/programs/call-the-midwife/

I have loved it so far. There are 6 (one hour) episodes. It is set in post WWII London. This tells the story of a small group of young nurse mid-wives and a small group of nun nurse midwives, who live together and care for a community. The writing and caliber are reminiscent of Downtown Abby (can't wait for season 3). The characters are funny, witty and human, with failings and real reactions to life in the East End. I already have several favorites-- I love to hear Chummy speak and can't wait to hear what Sister Monica Joan will say. The cinematography and costumes are outstanding. One small caveat--- this is a medical show, and though modest, blood and birth are depicted in every episode!

It is only available online until December 3. So if you are interested- please enjoy!
I give it 5 stars (out of 5)!!!
