Once my core temp had returned to normal.... about 2 hours in the apt (which does not have AC) we ventured out for dinner. We started by trying a little place Lucia had told us about but they could not fit us in without a reservation. So we journeyed on... we ended at a little place where the waiters were all super cute and flirted with all the tourists and spoke very good English. The food was also very good.
At the table next to ours was a wonderful couple. Tables are VERY close to one another and we could hear some of their conversation. At times it seemed like I understood exactly what they were saying-- I know my lamer-than-lame Italian is not that good--- then I would listen and nope- i did not understand. At the end of our meal Chris leaned over and asked where they were from... The hubby was from Louisiana (retired military) and the wife from the Venice area.They gave us some great info about Venice and some ideas about what to expect and things to see and places to go... what a wonderful chance meeting.
then we walked to get out last gelato in Florence...
