last day in Florence

For our last day in Florence we went to the locals street market. It was like a farmers market but huge. It had mostly household stuff and clothing. There were a few stalls with shoes and several for produce and food (think cheeses and meats). we bought some local cherries for the train ride tomorrow. Chris also got some fresh figs, which he loves and Ais tried for the first time and liked as well. (not my favorite)
We stopped at a booth that was selling fried pasta. We ended up picking up lunch there and ate at home. We got fried chicken (huge nuggets with a saffron batter), crochittas (fried dough like scones but tossed with salt not sugar), fried olives (green olives stuffed with meat and mushrooms) and pasta filled with dark chocolate and deep fried.
Ais picked up some more stuff for her and her family.
Over all we spend 2 1/2 hours walking the mile or so of stalls. It was another hot one today- high around 98. We drank tons of water and I stood in the shade for the most part.
We came back to the apt for the hot part of the afternoon and i hung out the laundry to dry and we cleaned the apt.
I started to repack for the next leg of our trip and i am thinking I might need to buy another suitcase for all the souvenirs we have picked up... for ourselves and others.
;-)
it has been a great trip so far.
