Almost like Appalachia

I have very fond memories of Living in Virginia.
Today I was reminding of why.
My favorite time of year is the fall, the nights are cool and crisp and the afternoon is warm. The colors are vibrant and so alive. Interesting b/c the earth is preparing to sleep.

Last night I had my first dinner party here. It was lovely. It was a very small, intimate party.

I served individual herbed cheese ball, spicy southwest nuts, and the blue cheese spirals- soo good, then we had a mixed salad with and orange vinegrette, beef barley soup, bread and warm blueberry pie.
We were sooo full no one had pie!
We talked and talked and ate- does it get any better than that?

Today had been one of those mysterious and grey days.
This is one of my favorite type of days.

There was a constant mist in the air, your breath clung to the cold air and would raise up as if telling a secret. A warm sweater and a hot cup of cocoa made it complete.
I walked around the neighborhood and took some photos in the muted light.

Today is the kind of day my somewhat romantic (and more than a little foolish) heart dreams of a knight riding along and into my life. Alas that did not happen today, but then again fall is just getting into full swing and I have many more "falls" in my life.

You're a poet. I love your descriptions. And your dinner party sounds yummy!
