Macau

The first time i remember learning about Macau was in the summer of 2009. I was at mom and dad's  in Denver over the 4th of July and was reading a national geographic travel magazine article about Macau. I thought to myself.... that would be the perfect place for Chris and I.... Chinese and Portuguese combined!
I was not wrong... today we went o Macau.... it was sooooo reminiscent of Portugal. I felt like Europe.  the made the little egg tarts that were in EVERY bakery in Portugal and they tasted the same.
Chris loved it too.
this was the ferry we took

it was about and hour by ferry to the island from HK

the blip on the top of that mountain is the Hong Kong Buddha... largest in the world

Local fisherman

one of the bridges connecting the islands of Macau
Once we got to the island we were accosted by the sheer size and difficulty of navigating the island on one day. We decided to hire a guide. My friend and her 2 daughter and Chris and I set off with Carlos....
he drove us in a mini-van all over the three islands... when he heard we did not want to go to a casino he took is to a little Portuguese villa- that is now a museum. here are some highlight photos of the day...

What an amazing day! Looks like you had so much fun, and Carlos looked as if he was happy to show something other than a casino!!!
